This is not the first time he's done this. I've warned friends and family when I know he's on the site. I don't know what questions he answers. I don't know what answers he gives. I only know when he's on the site because he tells me so, then I hear him giggling from the other room. I am not proud of him doing this, but I guess there's really no harm in it.

Well apparently, it's finally caught up with him. He just told me that Yahoo! has suspended his account for a month, saying he's been reported by many people.

I'm just sayin'.

Earlier today, I watched a video of this guy talking about some girl that committed suicide – very sad – and it prompted me to write this blog post. Let me say that my views on death, dying, and what comes after death, are constantly changing or evolving. But as of this date, I am sure of this…

ONLINE TESTAMENT

To all my online friends:

When (which won't be for a very long time) I die, please don't leave messages on my wall or stream for me. I'll be dead. I won't be able to read them. You're more than welcome to leave messages for my family though. I think they'd appreciate it. Even it's just say something like:

• "Wow, she was such a bitch sometimes.", or
• "She wasn't always tactful, but I still kept her in my friends list anyway.", or
• "Really, I only liked her because she sent me game gifts, no more gifts for me, I guess…Damn.", or
• "Who was she again?"

Because I know they'll (my family and true friends) find that funny…and agree or understand…and then you will have bonded because of me. And afterlife or not, heaven or hell, it makes me chuckle at the thought. I'm just sayin'.

Also, I'd like to say – before you keel over – I'm so glad we're friends. Truly.

Yes, we're all familiar with At Last by Etta James, but this is my favorite. R.I.P. Etta James.

I'm feeling kinda bad for Paula Deen these days. I see she's been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and is soon to be the spokesperson for some non-insulin drug. Unfortunately, this all means she's had to give up on all that sugar, and the deep-fried foods she loves so much.

There were a lot of factors that went into her becoming a Type 2 diabetic, but are any of us really surprised at the diagnosis? All that southern comfort food was bound to catch up with her – we all knew it. She's says she's always been a proponent of eating all that southern, deep-fried goodness she's so famous for, in moderation. But if I could throw stuff together like she does, "moderation" wouldn't be in my vocabulary. I'm just sayin'.

She was a guest on yesterdays airing of The Chew. On the show (check out the second segment), she talked about how she's come to terms with it along with some of the changes she's made in her life since the diagnoses back in 2008. She also talked about why she didn't come out and annouce it to the world right away.

Here's a shocker (it was for me):

It wasn't the butter! Butter can actually be good for you and is even listed as a suitable food for people with diabetes. Butter me up baby!

Some many diabetics have come out and criticized her for continuing to promote unhealthy foods and have called Paula a hypocrite. A hypocrite – really? I think that's so ridiculous. So what if she continued to share recipes that were not so healthy? It's television. No wait. It's entertainment television. I am not diabetic, but I wouldn't dare touch some of the more fatty recipes she's put out there. I've never tried any of her recipes and frankly, I can only listen to her talk in small does, but I have watched her show a few times and there's no denying that I find myself drooling. My point is, she didn't force any of that food into anyone's mouth. If someone cooked it, knowing the ingredients that went into the recipe, and knowing that they were diabetic or pre-diabetic, then that's their mistake, not Paula's.

There has also been some criticism of Paula getting paid for this medication endorsement. Well, a gal's gotta make a livin', right? Who cares how she makes her money? Celebrities put their face on a product or service it all the time. Some, even if they don't believe in the product or service they're endorsing. If Paula (yeah, I say her name like I know her personally) believes in the product, why not endorse it? Better yet, why not endorse it and get paid for doing so? Better still, why not endorse a product or service you believe in, get paid for doing it, and give some of the proceeds to a worthy cause?

Now that she's having to deal with this, I may even watch the show on a regular basis, knowing that she will have to come up with new, more diabetic-friendly recipes. I can hardly wait to see what she comes up. I know it's going to be good because she likes the same kinds of food I do. Who knows? Maybe I'll actually try one of her new recipes instead of constantly wiping off the drool off my chin, while I watch the show. Go on Paula, do your thing!

I am really looking forward to chowing down on some of her old, fatty recipes, at her restaurant in Savannah, GA this summer! More on that later (road trip!).

What is Pinterest? There's been a lot of talk about Pinterest, but it seems some people are still confused as to what Pinterest can do for them, or they don't see what the craze is about. Without going into detail about what everything you can do with Pinterest, I want to share with you what I use Pinterest for and why.

Excerpt from a blog post I wrote a few months back:

"I am a very visual kind of person. I browse the internet for thousands of reasons, from decorating ideas to recipes to art. I save images for different ideas and I would (and still do) bookmark my favorite sites. Unfortunately, I end up forgetting about them anyway. Or I'll bookmark a site, only to come back to it later and wonder why the hell I bookmarked it in the first place."

It all starts with a Board. Think of it like a bulletin board. You've probably got one up somewhere in your home or at work or maybe both. Now think about having a separate bulletin board for recipes and one for your child's artwork. Each time you come across a new recipe you must try, you pin the recipe to the Recipe Board. Each time your child comes home from school with some Picasso-like finger painting, you pin it to the Artwork Board.

When I first started using Pinterest, I was looking for Halloween decorating ideas and went crazy "pinning" anything and everything I thought was cool. Pinterest allows you to save or pin a specific image or even a video, from a website page and puts it on a Board that you create. You can even look at Boards from other people and repin what they've found. The image you've pinned directly links you to the page you got it from.

So what is Pinterest? Well, for me it's that…

• I need some decorating ideas for my living room
• Save this for later, when I have the money to buy it
• Must save this recipe because it's so yummy
• I need to learn the technique used in this tutorial for drawing this picture in Illustrator
• Planning the perfect 20th Anniverary wedding ceremony
• I need inspiration for my Christmas cards this year
• Places I've been and places I've yet to go
• What a great idea for recycling
• Must save this article about this specific topic to share with everyone else who is interested in the same topic

…visual reference guide made up of anything that interests me. It's a place to collect or gather some of my favorite things. The more I use it, the more reasons I find for using it and the Pin It button makes it so easy!

Yesterday, I came across a Reddit thread that discussed how Republican presidential candidtate Rick Santorum and his family dealt with the death of their twenty week old son, back in 1996. Now, don't go thinking I'm a supporter of Rick Santorum (I'm not), but the thread got me thinking about the grieving process.

Here's a quote from the thread… (edited for profanity)

"Its f@#$% disgusting. The thing was only ~20 weeks along, it doesn't even look human at that point, just disgusting. To then introduce your living kids, that are under 10 years old, to a corpse, shows a distinct lack of good judgement. The guy is f@#$% crazy, you cannot defend the dead baby sleepover."

And another:

"But who the f@#$% takes a dead body home for their kids to play with? They f@#$% slept with it and then took a day old dead body home and they their kids cuddles it and talked to it. Who does that?"

[Warning: Sarcasm just ahead]

I know, right? It's about as crazy as stuffing your dead pet and letting it set next to your office desk or chair…and petting it or talking to it. Or how about embalming a dead body? The person is dead so what's the point? We pay someone to insert unnatural chemicals into a dead body in order to preserve it so we can put it in a coffin a day or two later. And for what – so we can look at the person one last time or pay our respects? But that's not weird at all, right?

Here's something else that's not weird or unusual. It was once a common practice to take family portraits at funerals. Yep, the deceased would actually be made a prop and literally propped up into a sitting position or posed, to be in the picture. Children, in particular, would often be photographed - sometimes with their eyes opened - surrounded by toys, dolls, brothers and/or sisters. I've also read (or heard – can't remember which) that for practical purposes, back then, funerals were one of the few times an entire family would get together so they took advantage of it by taking a family portrait.

These [postmortem] photographs were a common aspect of American culture, a part of the mourning and memorialization process. Surviving families were proud of these images and hung them in their homes, sent copies to friends and relatives, wore them as lockets, or carried them as pocket mirrors. [source]

The whole burial process and the mourning of a lost loved one is for our benefit, not theirs. They're dead. You're not, but you have to find a way to deal with the loss. I don't understand what the big deal is. Why is your way right and theirs wrong?

Did you know…

When a person dies in the Philippines, Christian Filipinos – such as Catholics that include the Tagalog people – generally hold a wake known as lamay or paglalamay, a vigil that typically lasts for five to seven nights, but may last longer if the surviving family is waiting for someone who will be traveling from afar. During this time, the cleaned and embalmed body of the dead, placed in a coffin, is displayed at the house of deceased or at a funeral home. [source]

Why does my body have to be buried in a coffin anyway? Why prolong the inevitable? My body will decompose sooner or later. Just burn my body and throw my ashes in the trash. Thanks. Well, wait a minute. Just in case there is something I've missed somewhere, and not to discount the possibility of some kind afterlife, spread my ashes over someplace nice and peaceful, will ya? Yeah, that'll be better.

People grieve in so many different ways. Who are we to judge how a person grieves the death of a loved one? As far as I know, the Santorum family didn't do anything illegal. I'm sure their other children knew their mother was pregnant, that there was supposed to be an addition to the family. When that didn't happen, they felt a loss too even as young as they were. As a family, they mourned together. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

I'm sitting here and have a clear view of Kim and Jacob trying to fix the dryer (hose gt clogged up). Kim was behind the dryer and couldn't get out without using a step stool. Then shoved Jacob over the dryer to get the step stool and he couldn't reach it. Kim ended up using a hanger to get the stool, but ended up knocking the hose loose again. Now they're doing all over again. It's absolutely hilarious to watch.

Good morning! First thing on my mind and I see on the news this morning: protesters. Let me see if I've got this right… Thousands of people have gathered around in cities all over the country to protest corporate greed, chocolate-chipless cookies, gas prices, wall street, bank bailouts, social inequality, topless fat guys, unemployment, etc… All in hopes for "some kind" of reform? Someone, please tell me they've thought out and have planned solutions to all of these issues, before they set out to protest. Wait. What? What do you mean they haven't?

This has been *the* strangest week! We found out our awesome neighbor passed away Sunday. I witnessed through my rear view mirror, an elderly lady get hit by an SUV backing out of the parking space behind me. She was just trying to return the shopping cart. Dear Jacob's Teachers/School:

Please excuse my son for his absence on 11/18/2011. A new game was released and we *had* to be there for the release. As a result, he wasn't able to make his regularly scheduled bedtime and in turn, slept in…you know, for his health and all. Also, we had to test the new game…you know, to ensure game quality. As a result of game playing, I was not able to bring him to school before 3:00pm – which was too late.
