Today marks one year from the day my daughter's life was flipped upside-down…and so did mine. One year ago today, my daughter was raped.

Every once in awhile, Jacob will give me a list of songs that he would like for me to buy (yes, I actually buy them…with real money) for his iPod. For the most part, they're songs that my husband and I have introduced him to. Sometimes, they're songs by a band I've never heard of. Then I have to go and check them out myself.

I was sitting here thinking about what we're going to do this summer, making road-trip plans and trying to decide on what activities I can do with my eleven year old son, Jacob, this summer. Then I got to thinking about how much he's matured and grown physically over the past year or so. It's been so great watching him change into this cool and funny little dude.

Being a parent can be extremely frustrating when disciplining our kids. There's a fine line between discipline and child abuse. What's considered child abuse? How far can a parent go before it's "child abuse"?
One of my favorite bloggers, Jenny aka "The Bloggess" (don't even bother clicking on the link unless you have a sense of humor) was recently ranked among Babble's Top 50 Mom Blogger list this year. Babble was a site I'd never heard of until last week, so I had to go check it out. I spent the rest of the weekend reading all kinds of mommy blogs. What did I find? I found all these women who apparently have lives… or rather their kids have lives and they just blog about them. I also found, that in comparison, I must be the worst mom in the world.
