A Better Me – Wk. 11

I wouldn't say it was a bad week, but not the greatest week I've had either. I went on a little road trip – love road trips. I spent most of the week out of town or on the road. I'm surprised I didn't gain any weight this past week. While I met my calorie-burning goal this week, I still missed two gym days because I was out of town. I could've gone to my old gym, but it just never happened. There was just too much shopping to do and not enough time. But the week wasn't a total flunk. I found some awesome fitting jeans at Old Navy… and they were a size smaller! Whaaaaa?! Yep. In fact, everything I bought was a size smaller than my normal size. This is a very, very good thing. Yayee!! [Read more...]

A Better Me – Week Ten

I've noticed that the weeks I haven't lost any weight, have been the same weeks when mother nature comes to visit. Although it's kind of depressing, it makes sense. I really wanted to start the C25K program again, but I didn't feel like my left leg was ready for it just yet. I feel I'm ready now, but my schedule this week is kind of strange. So I'll start week twelve. It doesn't look like I'll be in the 5k race, as a runner, in October. I won't be ready for it yet, but I will walk it. And, if memory serves, there is a 3k race right here, in town, in November and I should be able to participate in that. [Read more...]

A Better Me – Week Nine

I just got home from the gym not too long ago (beginning of week 10). Damn! I feel good. Why is it so hard for me to get to the gym when I know how good I always feel once I get out of there? Why is it a struggle every single day? I don't get it. Someone, somewhere, must've stuck it in my head that going to the gym or exercising was a bad thing, when I was a kid. I remember doing all kinds of things when I was a kid. We didn't really have a choice but to be outside and find something to do. So at what time in my life did physical activity become taboo? Blog Me?

So there's been this big hoopla centered around the blogging community, particularly women bloggers.  They call their little community BlogHer. Apparently, there was some kind of BlogHer conference going on in New York City last weekend. All last weekend and this week, I read tweets and blog posts about the goings-on during this whole shindig and found out that most of my favorite bloggers are part of this community. And I'm all "What the hell? Why wasn't I told that all these women had some kind of group thingie? And would someone please take out the dog already?!" [Read more...]

Now He’s Bananas Too!

I try to pack Jacob's lunch for him every day. It makes me feel good and I'd like to think that it makes him feel good too and it's nice to know exactly what's going into his stomach. I also try to put in one whole fruit in his lunch box. The fruit of the week this week has been and is bananas.

When I went to pack his lunch Monday night, I decided I'd write a little message on the banana. I wrote something like "I hope you're first 'real' day of the 5th grade is going well" or something like that. Tuesday night, I decided to draw a smiley face on the banana and wrote "I'm bananas for you" on the banana. I thought it might be a little embarrassing if one of his friends saw it, but I also thought that my little bananas would make him smile. [Read more...]
